Jeans are the piece people put up with the most. Slightly too long, slightly too short, hemmed once years ago and never quite right since. Length is the easiest thing to fix and the thing that changes the most.
Start with the pair you already love
Lay your best fitting jeans flat and measure from the crotch seam straight down to the hem. That number is your inseam. Most of our customers land between 27 and 29 inches. Every pair we make lists its inseam on the product page so you can compare before you order.

Straight legs
A straight leg looks sharpest when it grazes the top of your foot with no break. One soft fold across the front is fine. Two folds means they are long and the line stops at your ankle instead of carrying through to the floor.
Wide legs
Wide legs should almost touch the floor in the shoes you wear most, with about half an inch of clearance so the hem stays clean. If you switch between flats and heels, cut for the flats.
Cropped
Cropped jeans work when they stop just above the ankle bone. The length to avoid is the one that lands at the widest part of the calf, which shortens the leg and makes the crop look accidental rather than chosen.
Hemming without losing the hem
If you love the original hem, ask your tailor for an inseam hem, where they remove length above the cuff and reattach the original edge. It costs a little more and looks like the jeans were made that way.
